FollowThrough

Help

  1. Name a meeting and take the notes in the pane beside its list. A name used before joins that series.
  2. Capture what comes out of it as items — Ctrl+Enter in the notes, or New item. Each has an owner, a list and a due date if it wants one.
  3. Today shows what is late, due or waiting on others. Items is all the work; Meetings, People and Lists open a page for each.
  4. Whatever is still open rides to the next meeting of the same name by itself; tick a row’s Discussed box, or type in its Comment, when it comes up.
  5. Choose where it saves under Settings ▸ Your data. Until then the work is in this browser only.

  1. Say your name on the first-run card and press Continue to look around the sample, or Start empty instead. Settings ▸ General changes who you are.
  2. Choose a save file in Settings ▸ Your data. Until then the work is in this browser only. One file holds every workspace.
  3. Make a list for each thing you run — a project, a workstream. A meeting filed under a list passes it to every item captured there.
  4. Keep what is not work in a workspace of its own. The button at the top of the sidebar switches and adds them.

Nothing else needs setting up: a name typed as an owner, a list or a tag joins its value list, or set them up ahead under Settings ▸ Value lists.

  1. Start it and name it. A name used before joins that series. A new meeting is dated today; date one ahead to put its agenda together early.
  2. Take the notes in the pane beside the list. Ctrl+Enter in them starts an item in the list; with one other person in the room it starts as theirs.
  3. Work down the bands. Up for discussion is what was marked for this meeting, Discussed what you have talked about, Captured here what is new, Follow-ups the actions the series raised before that are still open, and On their plate what else the others in the room have open. Tick a row’s Discussed box, or type in its Comment and press Enter: the comment is filed as said at this meeting and ticks the box. Click under the last row, or press ↓ on it, for a new one; a new row left empty goes again. A search shows the matching rows without the bands.
  4. Leave the rest. Whatever is still up for discussion when you finish is up for discussion on the next meeting of the name, and this one records that it was not brought up.
  5. Start the next one from ⋯ ▸ New meeting in this series, the chevron beside New meeting, or New 1:1 on a person’s page. The one before it locks; Previous meeting notes beside the notes shows what was written at earlier ones.
  6. Send it round from ⋯ ▸ Copy as text, formatted for email. Print decisions on the same menu is the series’ decision log.

Today is what is late, due or waiting on others; Items is all the work; Meetings, People and Lists open a page for each. Every list of items shows as a grid, a list or a board. Pin (★) a meeting, a person or a list to the sidebar; on Items the ★ saves the view as it is.

StatusThree ticks — Doing, Done, Archived — and the highest one set is the status. None set is To do, or Future while a snooze date or an input holds it back
Actions and notesEvery item type is one or the other. A note — a quote, a takeaway — has no status, owner or dates, stays off the board and stays on the meeting it came up at. Items opens on actions; the Kind filter brings the notes back
In a box↑ goes to the start of the text and ↓ to the end. In a list cell, pressed again there, they move to the row above or below
DatesType 3/11, 3/11/26, today, fri, next mon, Mar 11, +7, +2w, in 3 days, next week, eow or eom. Weeks run Monday to Sunday
Typing a title/ lists everything a title can set — type a few letters of one, or of a type, and Enter. Each has its own key too: @ an owner, # a tag, ! a priority, > the meeting to discuss it at, due a date; the values come up as you type. The search box reads @, # and ! as filters
FiltersItem lists have Active, Open, Done and All beside the search; the Meetings, People and Lists rosters have Active, Archived and All. The funnel has the rest, and ✕ clears them
A rowUnder the pointer, the end of its title carries Open details, which opens the panel, and the ⋯
On a phoneThe ☰ at the start of the title row brings the sidebar in. Tap a row for its Open details and ⋯; tap the cell again to edit it
The right buttonOn a row, a card or a header it is the same menu as the ⋯. With several rows selected it sets the owner, due date, list or tags of all of them; on a cell it offers Show only and Hide that value
Comments in the listTurn on the Comment column from a header’s ⋯ (a meeting shows it already). It shows the newest comment; rest on it to read them all, and click in it to add one
The boardColumns shows statuses, owners, lists or priorities, and on a meeting its bands. Drag a card to another column to hand it over — or use the arrows and Ctrl+← / →, or Move to on its ⋯; a held card drags to Doing, never To do. On a meeting, drag a card into Discussed to tick it, or back out to untick it
Inputs and outputsWhat has to clear before an item can start, and what it holds back in turn: on the item panel under the description, or in the Inputs and Outputs columns, one tick away under a header’s ⋯. Type row numbers, an item’s name or, for an input, a date, as in 3, 5SS, 9/30; a name nothing has yet offers Add item. A number clears when that row finishes, SS when it starts
Notes about a personDated records in the pane beside their items, newest first. Rest the pointer on their name anywhere to read them or add one; a note written from a meeting’s page says which meeting
A standing topicKeep on the agenda on the item panel (under the Meeting line) or the row’s menu keeps a topic put down for a name after it is discussed, so it is up again next time until it is finished or the tick comes off
Looking back⋯ ▸ Print a review… on Today: finished, decided, raised and still late over a period, with the meetings held. Print the series… on a meeting is every meeting of its name. Print decisions is on a meeting, a list, a person and Items; which types are decisions is the Decision log tick under Settings ▸ Item types
TemplatesCtrl+. in any text box inserts one or saves the text as one; edit them in Settings ▸ Templates
A locked meetingUnlock it for a correction; it locks again when you leave it. Its items stay live everywhere else
Changed your mindA delete offers Undo, and Ctrl+Z works after — on filters too. An import, restore or clear keeps a copy first, under Settings ▸ Your data ▸ Restore a copy
DuplicatesTwo people, or two meeting names, that are really one: ⋯ ▸ Merge into… on the one to fold away
SizesDrag the right edge of the pane beside a meeting’s, a person’s or a list’s items, or the panel’s left edge; double-click to reset. The button at the pane’s corner folds it to a strip
